Week 2 Reflection
This week I really enjoyed learning about stars and steppingstones. I found it really helpful to map out my own guide and think about what I really want. I also liked having to think about three jobs that I can do to help get me to my ultimate goal (or star). That made me really think about what I should be doing in order to gain the necessary experience needed to achieve my ultimate goal of publishing a novel. I liked the idea of having ethical guardrails as well. That was something that I hadn't thought about in the past while developing a career plan. I think that they are extremely important though, and I am glad we talked about them
Weekly Questions:
1) I think that Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams because he didn't allow walls to stop him. He had determination and wanted to achieve these dreams enough that he didn't let the "brick walls" get in his way.
2) I absolutely think that dreaming is important. I think that Randy Pausch's lecture really confirms this idea. Without dreams, we wouldn't have goals, and without goals, we wouldn't have a desire to do anything. We need dreams to push us, and inspire us to be successful and happy.
3) One of my childhood dreams was to be an astronaut. Of course, at the time I didn't know what exactly was involved in becoming an astronaut, but I wanted to go up in space nonetheless! I am inclined to believe that I couldn't achieve this dream simply because math is like a foreign language to me. However, if I had decided whole-heartedly as a child to become an astronaut, I think that I could have achieved that with the help of diligent study and a tutor. But, like most childhood dreams, it faded away into something new very quickly!
